EFFPA launches a new website
20 December 2024

EFFPA has launched its new website, giving a fresh, updated look at the representation of the European former foodstuff processing sector. It places particular attention on the continued commitment to preventing food waste by giving food losses from food manufacturers and food retailers a purpose as sustainable feed for food-producing animals.
The revamped website continues to refer to the importance of ensuring feed safety and the sector’s credentials in animal nutrition, but now also draws specific attention to the contribution of circular and low carbon footprint feed. This links up with the growing importance of circular feed as a key performance indicator of sustainability in feed production. As feed sourcing and production account for the majority of environmental impacts in livestock production, the push toward circular feed is also critical in the push for more sustainable livestock production. By repurposing food production by-products that would otherwise go to waste, EFFPA contributes to a circular economy while reducing the environmental footprint of animal feed.
EFFPA President Alexander Romme: ”The launch of a new website is a good opportunity to again raise awareness of the value of the former foodstuff processing sector in driving the circular bioeconomy, food waste reduction and reduced environmental impacts. With the arrival of the new European Commission, we strive for our contributions to be considered of strategic importance in meeting multiple policy ambitions as regards sustainability and reduced import reliance. ”
